Photo Dynamic Therapy - PDT

PDT is a revolutionary new way to treat sun damaged, blemished and aged skin on most parts of the body. It is non-invasive light technology and the best thing is it's very affordable.

You will require two sessions, two weeks apart.

The total cost for your package will be $950.00 (which includes pre-treatment products).

How does PDT work?

A naturally occurring lotion called 5-ALA is applied to the area to be treated. The lotion is then absorbed into abnormal or damaged skin. After absorption (which occurs over a period of several hours), and LED light source is focused on the area to be treated for a short period of time. When exposed to light, the abnormal skin cells are destroyed to reveal new, fresh, healthy skin cells.

What does PDT treat?

PDT provides excellent cosmetic results for:

. Sun damaged skin

. Rosacea

. Acne

. Large pores

. Fine lines

. Pigmentation

. Skin discolouration

. Rejuvenating aged skin

Downtime?

Post treatment you will be required to stay home, in a darkened environment for at least 24 hours, but preferably 48 hours.

Signs of redness, peeling and scabbing are all indicators of a successful treatment. You may also experience tingling, burning, swelling and tight skin.

Other information

You will need to use special skin care products to prep your skin for two weeks prior to your treatment.

If you are having your face treated you will have the 5-ALA lotion applied first thing in the morning. You will then be sent home for 5 hours for the lotion to absorb - keeping out of sun and bright lights during this time. You then return to our Practice in the afternoon for the light source to be applied.

If you are having any other part of your body treated eg hands, chest, back, we apply the lotion last thing during the day and you return to the Practice first thing the next morning.

You are reviewed after three days.

Your second treatment is 14 days after your first.
